After graduating with a degree in architectural engineering from Egypt, Ahmed began his professional career as a BIM modeler, where he spent two years developing multidisciplinary, large-scale building models such as hospitals, malls, and commercial hubs. This experience sparked his interest in creating environmentally friendly buildings, leading him to pursue a two-year Master’s degree in Building Engineering at Politecnico di Milano.
During his Master’s program, Ahmed gained a deeper understanding of building physics and methods for designing thermally and visually comfortable buildings with energy-efficient solutions. Armed with a strong background in architectural design, sustainable energy solutions, and proficiency in multiple modeling software, Ahmed is now committed to developing optimized, innovative, and efficient building solutions.
One of his key objectives for the future is to automate workflows between various energy consumption estimation and design platforms, and integrate AI solutions in the process, leading to more accurate solutions in less time. Additionally, his expertise includes creating solutions that comply with industry standards such as LEED, WELL and BREAM.
Main area of activity in R2M:
As a part of R2M’s Energy and sustainability division. Ahmed is specialized in comprehensive energy performance assessments of buildings, conducting dynamic energy simulations and analyzing their final results. His primary goal is to develop strategies and decisions that enhance energy efficiency, thereby reducing buildings’ energy impact and environmental footprint. Many of his energy models are utilized in optimizing the building’s performance and acquiring the minimum requirements for obtaining energy performance certificates.
