Advanced Energy Performance Assessment towards Smart Living in Building and District Level

Smart living EPC - Advanced Energy Performance Assessment towards Smart Living in Building and District Level

Project manager

Funding Scheme:

SmartLivingEPC aims to deliver an advanced Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) powered by digitized tools. It will be able to retrieve the necessary assessment information for the building shell and building systems from BIM data, including enriched energy and sustainability-related information from the project plan and against the actual performance of the building. The new certification scheme will also provide indications about water consumption, noise pollution and acoustics. The certificate will be fully compatible with digital building logbooks (DBLs) and building renovation passports, allowing direct integration of the EPC data in digital databases. SmartLivingEPC will be applied on building complexes, for delivering an energy certification at neighbourhood scale.
The motivation behind SmartLiving EPC is to provide a more accurate, advanced, complete, digitally-enabled EPC scheme in line with the challenges of climate neutrality for buildings of residential areas. Key expected impacts are the following: 1) More energy efficient building stocks supported by an accurate understanding of buildings performance in Europe and of their evolution 2) Building stocks that effectively combine energy efficiency, renewable energy sources and digital and smart technologies to assist the transformation of the energy system towards climate neutrality 3) Higher buildings’ performance with lower environmental impacts, through increased rates of full renovations 4) Higher quality, more affordable built environment preserving climate, environment and cultural heritage and ensuring better living conditions
